The topic of Golf Outings bringing their own alcoholic beverages came up. What happens if an individual playing in the Outing and is under the influence drives home and kills another person? Who is liable? Mayfair pays for insurance to protect the Company from lawsuits stemming from our employees serving alcohol to such a person. The problem arises when an Outing brings their own alcohol and volunteers with the Outing over serve people. The only solution is to not allow Outings to bring alcohol to Mayfair. Outings will still be allowed to bring non-alcoholic beverages and food. Mayfair has a Liquor License and sells alcoholic beverages. Any Outing participant that wishes to, is able to purchase alcoholic beverages from Mayfair. At this point, this count refers to the count you can guarantee 80% of. For example - If you tell us you have 100 players, we ask that you guarantee a minimum of 80 players and a maximum of 100 players. 2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR OUTING We will ask for an exact headcount. Whatever count you tell us (between 80 and 100 players from above example) we will charge you this for a minimum count. Please check with us before adding to this count to make sure we have room before you tell your new players okay as we may have already sold it. Other groups playing on the same day as your outing will not interfere with your group. Your players will stay together within the Shotgun. 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR OUTING We will ask you to email your final list of teams in the order that you want them, and Jeannie Springer will assign which holes they start on. This is important, as other groups are often playing within the same Shotgun. Any name changes after this date will not be accepted. We will give you a blank card and a Sharpie and you will need to place on the carts. We will direct any players not on the list you give us on this date to you to find their cart. BANQUET ROOMS After golf, we invite your golf outing to use one of our banquet rooms. You may bring in a catered meal or use a food truck for your guests. We have NO kitchen, so all food must be prepped, cooked and put into foil metal pans before bringing it into the banquet room. We have a buffet line to keep your food warm. *Please Note, we only allow golf outings to use the rooms after golf. We have enough seating to accommodate your players and up to 10% more people than golfers you have. We are NOT a banquet hall and do not have the staff to serve parties, weddings, showers, reunions or any other occasion. - Thank you! Please call for availability and more information on using a banquet room. HOLE IN ONE CONTESTS & OTHER GOLF GAMES We don’t get involved with Hole in One contests with insurance companies. Insurance companies cannot be trusted to pay and we won’t involve Mayfair as a liable participant. You’ll need to ask them how to proceed. As far as other outing activities, good games are longest drive, closest to pin and longest putt. We recommend NOT choosing games that will slow players down. Please check with us first before promising any contest games to your players. WAYS TO RAISE MONEY FOR YOUR CAUSE 1. Charge the players more money to play than you are paying the golf course. 2. Sell tee sponsor signs. They can be purchased at office supply stores, and then charge businesses $100.00 or more for them to advertise. 3. Silent Auctions. Seek donations from local businesses then place an 8.5” X 11” letter on a table with the description and lines below where people can write their name as well as the amount they bid to purchase the item. 4. Sell Mulligans. Websites like mulligangolfsite.com explain how these work. There are other websites for mulligans as well.
